DDTC Magazine wins third prize
Thursday, 29 October 2009 23:33

The Dandie Dinmont Terrier Club Magazine has been awarded third prize in the Midland Counties / Dog World competition for breed club publications.  The winners in the magazines category were the Deerhound Club, with the Saluki Club coming second.

Which reminds me...  it's that time of year where we start asking for articles for the 2010 magazine.  We rely on contributions from our members to keep the magazine fresh and interesting.  We have a few regular contributors (to whom we are always grateful), but it would be great to have a little more variety.  So why not have a go.  We're happy to help type and edit any work.

Any Dandie subjects are welcome - working Dandies, show Dandies, racing Dandies, slow Dandies, old Dandies, young Dandies, pet Dandies, PAT Dandies, wet Dandies, fat Dandies, first Dandies, last Dandies, health, disability, obedience, agility... disobedience...?

Perhaps an article on topknots, or if that is too controversial, a few short anonymous articles on topknots?

The closing date for contributions is the beginning of May, but it would be really helpful if they could be with us sooner - my workload varies throughout the year but is generally quiet in the winter and very busy from May onwards.  It is a huge amount of work putting the magazine together, and I'm running short of Midnight Oil!

Please send any suggestions or contributions to the editor.

Some great news from the Miniature Bull Terrier Club
Sunday, 11 October 2009 20:05

While adding a few extra links to a quiet corner of our website I came across some fantastic and encouraging news.  The Miniature Bull Terrier Club have recently announced that a DNA test for Primary Lens Luxation in the MBT will be available in a few days.  Click here to read the full story.

Oh, and if you want to know which quiet corner of the website it was, click here.

New DDTC Forum
Saturday, 03 October 2009 21:53

I have added a forum to the DDTC website.  Will anyone use it?  Why on Earth do we need a forum?  Aren't there enough Dandie forums (or fora for those who are pedantic about Latin) out there already?  What will we use it for?

Do we need a forum?
Well, let's see if there's any demand for it. If you build it they will come.

Enough already?
Perhaps there are, but most of them are only for registered users to read. This one is open for all to read (so no dirty linen please) - but you still have to be a registered user to post on the forum. If you're not a registered user but have something important to say, please email me ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ).

What for?
To bounce ideas around. To give a centre for discussion. To let visitors to our website see why Dandies are so special to us. To spread Dandie Propaganda far and wide.

So come on, get posting.

The SDDTC are missing one of their trophies.  The Salisbury Cup for Open Bitch has been missing for about four years.  If anyone can help with information as to its whereabouts, please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. The Old Hickory Cup for Best Pepper Dog was also missing, but this has recently turned up a the back of a cabinet near Plymouth.
